Tennis Etiquette and Behavior Expectations of the Student Athlete  Accept and understand the seriousness of your responsibility, and the privilege of representing your school and community.  Learn the rules of the game thoroughly  Treat opponents the way you would like to be treated, as a guest or friend.  Wish opponents good luck before the game and congratulate them in a courteous manner following the match either in victory or defeat.  Warm up your opponent.  Call the score before each point.  Do not return serves that are obviously out  Play to the reasonable pace of the server  When in doubt, it is in. Maintain strict honesty  Don’t interrupt points on the next court when returning balls.  When a ball lands on your court from an adjoining court, stop play immediately and call a “let”. Return the ball promptly and courteously.  Make calls of “let” or “out” immediately.  Never enter someone else’s court while play is in progress  Don’t protest or question opponent’s calls, either by speech or by manner  Do not cuss or abuse racket or balls.  Avoid arguments of any kind  Avoid getting angry with yourself or your opponent. No throwing your racquet or cussing
